    Delightful building and grounds. Good golf course, as relative novices we were pleased that there was no handicap requirements as is often the case at such courses. Lovely fried breakfast and porridge.

    On two of the four days we waited nearly one hour for our breakfast. The quality of the food at the adjacent pub was not particularly good. Wired internet broadband did not work in room.

    I thought the spa was brilliant. The food was also fantastic and the staff were very pleasant.

    we had 2 very disturbed nights we had moved room as a wedding party had woken us up at 1-2am the next room was noisy too

    The hotel is an amazing place and hosts some exceptional characteristics. It is set in some beautiful landscape and the facilities are very comfortable and clean.

    The hotel staff were not very good. Service ws extremely slow and there was a lack of clarity as to what can / can't be provided. Drinks at the bar took a lifetime to be served. The staff appeared to forget that the guests are clients whom are paying a great deal of money. They should not be left feling like it is there privalege to stay at the hotel. I have ticked yes below but it would be subject to improvements in the staff service.

    Poor overall service for an expensive hotel. The cupboard door fell down, but luckily our 1 year old was asleep in the bed and not standing in the path of this when I explained this to reception, nothing was done

    Totally disorganised.Breakfast and dinner long queue at dining room. Long wait to be served. On leaving account inaccurate in customer's favour. Allocated to low grade room on arrival.

    Staff were excellent and very helpful and the location and hotel grounds are great. We were traveling with a baby and stayed here as we were attending a wedding at the venue. The hotel made sure we were tucked away (on our request) so we wouldn't be bothering our guests with the noise of a crying baby.

    There were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room which is something we would definitely expect in a hotel room nowadays especially in the uk. Room price is in our view too high, but probably a bit more acceptable if you use the spa facilities as well (which we couldn't as we had the baby with us). You probably have to accept some noise from other guests when a wedding is on so probably not so great for a romantic quiet weekend break during the wedding season, but should be nice during the week and out of season.

    great Golf course, good rooms & gr8 buffet breakfast

    as this was a quiet break away from the children on both nights we got interupted at 1am by wedding guests. This is very annoying , especially when we paid alot of money & requested a quiet room away from noise - any chance of any compensation/vouchers for future stays? we loved the hotel and would return with if we knew that we could receive a room away from wedding guests.

    Grounds and swimming pool were very good. Meals were reasonable value and tasty. Dining room service was friendly and efficient

    The beds! One could see by looking that they were old and sagged and they were uncomfortable. I did not expect that in a hotel of this standard. The Travelodge do better!

    Unfortunately the weather was not too kind,but,it was situated within easy reach of Houses,|Gardens and castles that are in the are. The golf course seemed in very good condition and due to the weather it was very wet.

    Lovely country house style hotel. Large size swimming pool with jacuzzi . If we'd had more time I'm sure the spa facilities were good. Friendly and helpful staff especially on reception. Had room with disabled loo and shower for our elderly relative. We visited as a family group ( mature couple 2 young adult daughters and elderly grandma) for a family wedding nearby.

    If a folding wheelchair had been available this would have been a welcome addition. I would have preferred breakfast to have been included in the total cost.

    Quiet & clean, staff friendly.

    Hotel is tired, room was quiet, clean & tidy but again looked very tired & was comparatively small. Very expensive prices for the room & for drinks, breakfast etc. in comparison with better quality hotels although in fairness room prices influenced by the great north run. Low staff numbers appeared to cause delays being served etc. Wanted to charge £17.95 just for some cereals & toast for breakfast for my son who was running in the gnr that morning! Stayed at another hotel for the next two nights & this was a great improvement.

    Wonderful central staircase, retaurant was very welcoming for both dinner and breakfast. Good spa facilities good access to pool for teenagers.

    Wifi would be useful. Changing area at spa was a bit tired and basic.
